Jennifer Phillips, PMHNP-BC
Jennifer is a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Jennifer is passionate about mental health among young adults, adolescents and children. She desires to improve the lives of clients suffering with mental illness. She wants to help all to become the best version of themselves. She has experience in medical and psychiatric care, inpatient and outpatient. She had 8 years of RN experience before becoming an NP. She has worked as an PMHNP inpatient (Tennova), outpatient services, and Intensive Outpatient Services. She also worked several years in acute care/ICU which helped to teach her medical conditions that may cause or worsen mental illness. Her main goal as a nurse practitioner is to treat all her clients with respect, dignity, and compassion. She aims to help in combat the stigma of mental health and to encourage others struggling to pursue treatment. Jennifer is modest with medication management. She will make sure there are no possible organic causes to their mental health. She finds it important to treat the child as well as the family. She makes sure to rule out developmental delays, learning disorders, etc. Every person is capable of great things and she wants to help.

Treatment Approach
She uses evidenced based research for treatment for all mental health diagnoses using FDA approved medications when warranted. She encourages clients to have an individual therapist if needed and at times may do some additional psychotherapy such as motivational interviewing, supportive therapy, and behavioral therapy. Will make necessary referrals when she feels it is needed, such as refer to a psychologist for Psycho-Educational Testing. She may refer for a higher level of care such as Intensive Outpatient or Inpatient care.
