Sarah A Griffith, Licensed Professional CounselorCatherine Nitz, University of Tennessee at Martin

Catherine is a graduate clinician currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She previously worked for 10 years as a speech language pathologist in rehab hospital settings. It was through this experience that she decided to bring her focus to what she truly finds rewarding, helping people to find healing and to create a happier, more peaceful and fulfilling life for themselves.

Catherine sees adults (18+) who come for a variety of reasons, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, phase of life issues, transitions, grief, and relationship struggles.

Catherine is warm and compassionate and takes a collaborative, strengths-based approach to counseling. She views the therapeutic process through a holistic lens and is drawn to contemporary cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT), such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and mindfulness-based CBT, systems therapy, humanistic therapies, and multicultural counseling approaches.

Catherine values the unique experience of each of her clients and endeavors to match the therapeutic process to their goals and needs. She seeks to provide a comfortable, welcoming environment for ALL, regardless of social or cultural background, age, gender identity, affectional or sexual orientation, ability status, color, size, or shape.
